How about paying your Electricity Bills in Nigeria using Cryptocurrency?
If you had the option to top-up your electricity meter using cryptocurrency, would you take it? That option is coming anyway. Thanks to ...
Electroneum, the first UK blockchain-based project for digital payments seems to have a strong product concentration in developing countries – speaking of Africa.
They are looking to expand their services with the anticipated electricity top-up feature. This feature will be initially launched in Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, and The Gambia. Once this feature is introduced, ETN users in these countries will be able to pay for their electricity directly from the Electroneum app using the project’s native token “ETN”.
Currently, ETN app users in over 140 countries are already enjoying the “in-app” data and airtime top-up feature.
It’s no surprise that many ETN users and investors don’t find most of these updates as exciting, considering that the price of ETN is still a far cry from its ATH – all-time-high of $0.185 on Jan 7th, 2018. However, it’s worthy to note that the price rallied over 400% in the last few months building up to the announcement of the “Phase 2”.
Electroneum doesn’t share the same view though, with claims that its 30 months long “Phase One” has been successful having amassed approximately 1 million active app users (according to a report from Coinintelligence).
Meanwhile, find Coinintelligence’s recent in-depth report on the operations of Electroneum here. A clear example of transparency – something that seems to be lacking in most blockchain-based projects.
Electroneum has partnered with a lot of NGOs in developing countries, a collaboration that seeks to achieve a wider use of cryptocurrencies. By launching its AnyTask platform, Electroneum has created a peer-to-peer marketplace targeted at developing countries to enable them become a part of the gig economy.
The British Blockchain-based company, Electroneum seems to be building a huge ecosystem with its payment network and task-based marketplace.
It is a project I so much believe in. I will HODL.
