Conscience or just PR for his SUSHI? Former chef returns $14m in ETH
There are enough veggies in the new Sushi!
Pseudonymous founder of SushiSwap, the Uniswap look-alike decentralized exchange claims in a tweet today, Friday 11th Sept, that he has returned the $14m worth of Eth he made selling off his Sushi stack less than a week ago.
On September 5, the anonymous founder of Sushiswap reportedly exit-scammed after swapping all his Sushi tokens for $14m worth of ETH.
The public outcry by Sushi believers instigated a public handover of the project to the trusted FTX founder, Sam Bankman-Fried on Sept 6.
Just a few days ago, over $800 million in funds that had been deposited in Uniswap liquidity pools were transferred to Sushiswap, causing the overall liquidity on Uniswap to drop by nearly 60%.
In Chef Nomi’s words: “To everyone. I fucked up. And I am sorry.”
“I would like to apologize to everyone who I have caused troubles to. I was emotional, I was greedy, I was afraid. I made bad controversial decisions under pressure. And it hurt everyone. I failed your expectation and I am sorry.”
After a series of tweets, he posted the tx details of the returned ETH saying:
I have returned all the $14M worth of ETH back to the treasury. And I will let the community decide how much I deserve as the original creator of SushiSwap. In any currency (ETH/SUSHI/etc). With any lockup schedule you wish.
"I will continue to participate in the discussion and technical implementation of SushiSwap in the background. But I will not have any control. Will not take any spotlight. Will not be part of the governance," Nomi continued. "I hope that SushiSwap continues to evolve. Don't let my mistake deter it from being a 100% community-run AMM. The success of SushiSwap will set a precedent for many more community-run projects."
This recent action by Chef Nomi has erupted mixed feelings from crypto twitter so far.
