ARE YOU WORKING FROM HOME YET?
It’s quite a time of uncertainty. People are spending less, trimming expenses in every way possible, and preparing for adjustments. Sad to say, as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, we are not ready to handle this in volumes if we get hit hard. Residents might need to stay twice as prepared as the average European or American citizen.
Recently on my timeline, I shared a 30 seconds video of what a quarantine room looks like in Nigeria for Covid suspects. Nobody would want to stay there in isolation for days. Heck! It’s more like they’re expecting you to just die off.
There’s one thing to keep an eye out for though – the response to “work from home” resulting from the current “social distancing”.
A lot of businesses are being driven online. A lot of workers across Europe and the US are replacing conferences and business meetings with video presentations and conference calls. This has seen video conferencing companies like Zoom experience increased product demand in the last few weeks. Members of Paystack, an online payment platform, will from today 19th March begin to work from home. All meetings have been converted to virtual meetings emphasizing the lack of necessity of some physical meetings in the first place.
If there’s one thing to pay attention to, it’s the need to focus on remote working, which ranks digital skills as highly important. Cryptocurrency trading remains one of the most profitable ways to stay indoors and make money regardless of the situation out there.
Despite extreme fear and volatility in the crypto market in the last few days, experienced traders who have stashed dollars are capitalizing on the volatility to make a lot of money. We’ve seen sustained volumes and sigh of relief in the last 24 hours with some cryptocurrencies slowly creeping up. This isn’t to say we won’t experience a dead cat bounce for now – considering that the coronavirus news is still in the air and spreading to new territories, especially Africa.
We all hope that this virus will be gone sooner than we expect, so everything and everyone can get back to normal.
Stay safe!
